Domestic Wines

Winemaking is Bob Broman’s passion. It’s who he is and what he does, all day, every day. He has made wine for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Concannon Vineyards, St. Supery, Guenoc and has traveled the world doing international consulting.

So, it’s no surprise that after making wine for other folks for 31 years, Bob would realize his life long dream of making his own Napa Valley wines, appropriately labeled, Broman Cellars. The inaugural release was a beautiful 1994 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon consisting of an entire 150 cases.

Today, Broman Cellars is a family passion, with daughter Lisa also working side by side with Bob at the winery. Production is a whopping 1,400 cases consisting of small, ultra premium, hand-crafted lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. The goal of Broman Cellars is to grow slowly but remain small enough that Bob can continue to pay individual attention to the wines.

Bob and his wife, Deborah, have received their winery permit and are drawing plans for the winery which will be located on the property shared with their home on 11 ½ acres on Deer Park Road in St. Helena. In the interim, they are remodeling the house and caring for their two acre cabernet vineyard.

Broman Napa Sauvignon Blanc 2010

100% Sauvignon Blanc        Alcohol: 13.7 %         Total Cases Produced: 394
The 2010 Broman Sauvignon Blanc was crafted from 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from three different vineyard sites around the Napa Valley. The Broman philosophy in making Sauv Blanc is to let the fruit shine through. As such, this wine was cold fermented in a small stainless steel tank with no malolactic fermentation or oak treatment. Aromas of grapefruit, lemongrass and lime zest with undertones of white peach and mango make this wine so inviting. The vibrantcitrus is rounded out with tropical and stone fruits on the palate with a clean, fresh finish.

   

Broman Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

100% Cab. Sauv. Alcohol: 14.6% Total Cases Produced: 424
A rich, extracted, decadent wine with flavors of blackberries and black cherries,
aromas of cocoa and leather, and a long lingering finish.
Blended from Cabernet from Rutherford, St. Helena, and Broman vineyards,
the wine was aged in French oak for 30 months.

Broman Napa Syrah 2005

100% Syrah    Alcohol: 14.8%  Total Cases Produced: 229
This 2005 Broman Napa Valley Syrah was produced from grapes from the Page Nord Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. This wine was aged in French oak for approximately 28 months. This one is a powerhouse wine; inky, ripe and satisfying. Blueberries and blackberries mesh with earthy qualities, bacon fat and leather undertones. This wine is plush and full on the palate with long, lingering tannins.
